O Torneio de xadrez de Paris de 1878 foi uma competição internacional de xadrez que ocorreu concomitante a sétima Grande Exposição, assim como em exposições anteriores em Londres. O evento ocorreu em Paris de 17 de junho a 31 de julho. A presença de James Mason e George Henry Mackenzie tornaram o evento como o primeiro intercontinental da história do xadrez.
Os vencedores foram Johannes Zukertort (1000 Francos + 2 vasos Sèvres), Szymon Winawer (500 F+1 vasos Sèvres), Joseph Henry Blackburne (1500 F), George Henry Mackenzie (1000 F) e Henry Edward Bird (500 F).
