Marina Sarah Warner ye una escritora británica. Escribió noveles, rellatos, llibros de historia y ensayos sobre mitoloxía. Nos sos llibros d'ensayu ye recurrente'l feminismu y el mitu.
Primeros pasos
Nació en Londres, de padre inglés y madre italiana. El so güelu paternu yera'l xugador de cricket inglés Sir Pelham Warner. Educar n'El Cairu, Bruxeles y Berkshire (Reinu Xuníu) y estudió francés ya italianu nel Lady Margaret Hall d'Oxford. Foi alumna del internáu St Mary's School Ascot y recibió un doctoráu honoris causa pola Universidá d'Oxford el 21 de xunu de 2006. En 1971 casóse con William Shawcross, con quien tuvo un fíu, Conrad. La pareya divorcióse darréu.
Carrera thumb|Warner escribió'l so primer llibru sobre la emperatriz rexente Cixi. El so primer llibru foi The Dragon Empress: The Life and Times of Tz'o-hsi, Empress Dowager of China, 1835-1908 (1972), siguíu por Alone of All Her Sex: The Myth and the Cult of the Virgin Mary (1976), un estudiu polémicu sobre la devoción mariana. Siguió la so esploración de los roles sociales femeninos y los personaxes femeninos célebres nos sos siguientes ensayos, Monuments & Maidens: The Allegory of the Female Form y Joan of Arc: The Image of Female Heroism.
La so novela The Lost Father foi finalista del Premiu Booker en 1988. Otres noveles de Warner son The Leto Bundle y Indigo.
L'ensayu From the Beast to the Blonde: On Fairy Tales and Their Tellers llogró'l Mythopoeic Scholarship Award, nel so subcategoría d'estudios sobre mitos y fantasía polo xeneral, en 1996. En 2000 apaeció Non Go the Bogeyman: On Scaring, Lulling, and Making Mock, estudiu de los personaxes apavoriantes masculinos.
En 1994 resultó escoyida pa pronunciar una conferencia radiofónica añal dientro del ciclu Reith Lectures. Ye profesora honoraria de la Universidá de St Andrew y da clases na Universidá d'Essex.
El so últimu llibru, Phantasmagoria (2006), ye un ensayu qu'analiza les representaciones de «espíritus» en diversos medios, dende les figures de cera hasta'l cine.
Foi nomada Comandante de la Orde del Imperiu Británicu en 2008.LondonGazette, nᵘ58729, 14 de xunu de 2008.
