E. Mason Hopper (6 de diciembre de 1885 – 3 de enero de 1967) fue un director, guionista y actor cinematográfico de nacionalidad estadounidense, activo principalmente en la época del cine mudo.
Biografía Nacido en Enosburgh, Vermont, Hopper dirigió 76 filmes entre 1911 y 1935, principalmente cortometrajes mudos. Diez de dichas cintas, en 1917 y 1918, fueron producidas por Triangle Film Corporation.
Dos de sus películas más conocidas fueron Paris at Midnight (1926, con Lionel Barrymore y Mary Brian, y Their Own Desire (1929, film sonoro interpretado por Norma Shearer y Robert Montgomery).
Entre los actores a los que dirigió, además de los ya mencionados, figuran los siguientes: Gloria Swanson (Wife or Country en 1918), Richard Dix (Dangerous Curve Ahead en 1921), Helen Ferguson (Hungry Hearts en 1922), Marion Davies (Janice Meredith en 1924), Bebe Daniels (The Crowded Hour en 1925), Marie Prevost (Getting Gertie's Garter en 1927), Franklin Pangborn (A Blonde for a Night en 1928), Roland Young (Wise Girls en 1929), Gilbert Roland (No Living Witness en 1932), y C. Aubrey Smith (Curtain at Eight en 1933), entre otros.
Tras retirarse de la dirección, trabajó como ayudante de dirección en dos filmes en 1936 y 1938, y como actor en pequeños papeles en cuatro películas en 1943 y 1950 (la última de ellas Sunset Boulevard, de Billy Wilder.
E. Mason Hopper falleció en Los Ángeles, California, en 1967.
