Posteriormente le fueron encargados muchos trabajos de retratos en San Petersburgo y se quedó allí hasta 1801.Graham Reynolds, Katharine Baetjer, European miniatures in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York: Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1996), p. 125Oliver Millar, The later Georgian pictures in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen, vol. 1 (London: Phaidon, 1969), p. 118: "Peter Edward Stroehling, 1768-after 1826. Portrait-painter, whose works are almost always below the scale of life. Born in Dusseldorf, he worked at Paris, Mannheim, Frankfurt, Mainz, Rome, Naples."
The later Georgian pictures in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen, vol.
Graham Reynolds, Katharine Baetjer, European miniatures in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York: Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1996), p. 125
Oliver Millar, The later Georgian pictures in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen, vol.
Charles Carlton, Royal Childhoods (1986), p. 113: "George III at Windsor, 1807, by Peter Edward Stroehling. Here the king looks rather like a gentleman farmer, with his estate in the background and an adoring spaniel at his feet."Kay Staniland, In Royal Fashion: the clothes of Princess Charlotte of Wales & Queen Victoria 1796-1901 (Museum of London, 1997), p. 26 El mismo año pintó un retrato poco halagüeño de la esposa del rey, la reina Carlota, que ahora también es propiedad de Su Majestad la Reina.John Cannon, Ralph Griffiths, The Oxford Illustrated History of the British Monarchy (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1988, Su pintura de Luis I, príncipe de Liechtenstein, se encuentra en el Museo de Liechtenstein, Viena.Alois I at fuerstenhaus.li, accessed 10 December 2011
